Colonel Michael D. Edmonson, Superintendent News Release – September 9, 2010 Lake Charles and Baton Rouge Residents Arrested for Drug Related Charges Earlier this year, narcotics agents with the Lake Charles office of the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigation along with agents from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement initiated an investigation of a significant steroid distribution ring in South Louisiana. The investigation revealed that 24-year-old Terry Kuykendall of Baton Rouge was distributing steroids. Further investigation revealed that Kuykendall's suppliers were 26-year-old Jordan Berza and 24-year-old Christopher Gass, both of Lake Charles, and that they were getting the steroids shipped from China. Today, Louisiana State Police troopers and Federal agents simultaneously executed 5 search warrants in the Lake Charles area and 1 search warrant in the Baton Rouge area. These warrants resulted in the discovery of approximately $80,000.00 in US Currency, over 300 vials of steroids, two clandestine labs for manufacturing steroids, and two weapons. Gass and another subject, Tyler Kuykendall of Lake Charles, were arrested for possession with intent to distribute a schedule III controlled dangerous substance (LRS 40:968). Berza and another subject, 23-year-old Bryce Meaux of Lake Charles, were both charged with possession with intent to distribute a schedule III controlled dangerous substance (LRS:40:968), possession of a weapon while engaged in a drug crime (LRS 14:95E), and creation or operation of a clandestine laboratory for unlawful manufacture of a controlled dangerous substance (LRS 40:983). These subjects were booked into the Calcasieu Parish Correctional Center. Troopers in Baton Rouge also arrested Terry Kuykendall for possession with intent to distribute a schedule III controlled dangerous substance (LRS 40:968).
