| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE Colonel Michael D. Edmonson, Superintendent News Release - July 6, 2010 Holiday Weekend Enforcement Results LAKE CHARLES – This Independence Day holiday weekend, Louisiana State Police Troop D troopers actively patrolled the highways in our area looking for impaired drivers. As a result, troopers arrested 25 motorists for DWI. No warrants were issued as part of the “No Refusal Weekend.” Additionally, troopers in our area issued 128 speeding citations, 44 seat belt citations, and 4 child restraint citations. Troop D did not work any critical injury or fatal crashes over the holiday weekend. There are no excuses for impaired driving. Buzzed driving is drunk driving. Those who choose to drive impaired endanger themselves and others. Before attending any celebration, plan a safe way home. Designate a sober driver and give that person your keys. If you are impaired, call a taxi, sober friend, or family member. If you see a suspected impaired driver, contact your local police or sheriff’s department, or call the Louisiana State Police from your cell phone by dialing *LSP (*577). Contact Information: Sgt.
