Edmonson, Superintendent News Release – Troop D May 23, 2010 **UPDATE** Passenger, Ashlyn Chaisson, was transported to Lafayette General Hospital where she later died as a result of the injuries she sustained in the crash. Gueydan Man Dies in Single Vehicle Crash JENNINGS - A Gueydan man died this afternoon as the result of a single vehicle crash in Jefferson Davis Parish near Jennings. Gavin W. Crochet, 22, died when the vehicle he was a passenger in crashed on I-10 near milepost 63.5. A 2000 Pontiac Firebird driven by Steven P. Rider, 26, of Jennings, was traveling west on the north I-10 service road. Rider failed to negotiate a right hand curve and entered a ditch. The vehicle rolled over several times and traveled across the I-10 westbound lanes of traffic until it came to rest in the median. Rider received minor injuries. Another passenger in the vehicle, Ashlyn Chaisson, 20, of Gueydan received serious injuries as a result of the crash. Rider will be charged with a violation of the general speed law, negligent injuring, and negligent homicide. Alcohol and drug use is unknown at this time. Routine toxicology tests have been submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. Contact Information: Sgt.
