Edmonson, Superintendent Troop D Press Release October 27, 2010 Crash Leaves Two in Critical Condition Deridder- Tonight, Louisiana State Police Troop D investigated a two vehicle crash on LA 27south of Deridder. The crash left two people in critical condition. According to investigating troopers, on October 27, 2010, at 7:27 p.m., a 1999 Mazda 626 driven by 20-year-old Kayla Fontenot of Deridder, LA, was traveling south on LA 27. A 2010 Ford Expedition driven by 53-year-old Gary McFatter of Deridder, LA, was traveling behind Fontenot. As Fontenot slowed to make a right turn into a private driveway, McFatter failed to stop and struck the passenger side of her vehicle as she was turning. Both Fontenot and her passenger were transported to a local hospital in critical condition. McFatter was arrested for DWI, two counts of vehicular negligent injury and careless operation.
