Edmonson, Superintendent Troop D Press Release October 21, 2010 Unrestrained Driver Killed in Crash Calcasieu Parish- Last night, Louisiana State Police Troop D investigated a two vehicle crash on LA 27 north of High Hope Road. The crash claimed the life of a Dequincy woman. According to investigating troopers, on October 20, 2010, shortly after 8:00 p.m., a 2000 Honda Civic driven by 32-year-old Molly Red of Dequincy, LA, was traveling south on LA 27. A 2009 GMC Yukon driven by 21-year-old Amy Eaves of Dequincy, LA, was traveling north on LA 27. For unknown reasons Red crossed the center line and struck Eaves’ vehicle head-on. Red was not wearing a seatbelt and was killed as a result of her injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene by the Calcasieu Parish Coroner. Eaves was wearing a seatbelt and sustained moderate injuries. Routine toxicology samples are pending at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab. This crash remains under investigation. Troop D troopers have investigated 20 fatal crashes for the year of 2010, resulting in 23 fatalities. For More Information Contact: | |||
