October 15, 2010
Fatal Crash in Calcasieu Parish

SULPHUR, LA - Last night, at 7:42 p.m., troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop D responded to a single vehicle crash on Interstate 10 west of Sulphur that claimed the life of a Sulphur woman.

According to investigating troopers, a 2003 Cadillac driven by 59-year-old Sandra H. Hudnall of Sulphur was traveling east on Interstate 10 near mile post 16 when, for unknown reasons, she lost control of the vehicle she was driving. The vehicle departed from the roadway and struck several trees before striking a fence south of the highway.

Hudnall was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Calcasieu Parish Coroner’s Office. Routine toxicology samples will be submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis and the crash remains under investigation.

Troop D troopers have investigated 18 fatal crashes for the year of 2010, resulting in 21 fatalities.
