Edmonson, Superintendent News Release – Troop D September 23, 2010 State Police Name New Troop D Commander LAKE CHARLES – Yesterday afternoon, Louisiana State Police Superintendent Colonel Mike Edmonson promoted Chris Guillory to the rank of captain. Effective immediately, Captain Guillory will serve as commander of Louisiana State Police Troop D in Lake Charles. When he received news of the promotion, Captain Guillory said, “I am humbled by Colonel Edmonson’s decision to promote me. I look forward to increasing cooperation with area law enforcement agencies to advance the common goal of keeping our citizens safe. It is also very important that we continue our efforts to reach out to youth in our community." Captain Guillory served honorably in the U.S. Army and is a graduate of McNeese State University. He began his law enforcement career with the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office. In 1994, he became a Louisiana state trooper. He has served at Troop D as a patrol trooper, firearms instructor, public information officer, shift sergeant, shift lieutenant, and now troop commander. During this time, he has spearheaded efforts to reach youth in our community by coordinating summer camps as well as youth hunts. He also served as a member of the Louisiana State Police SWAT Team for 13 years. Troop D encompasses the parishes of Allen, Beauregard, Calcasieu, Cameron, and Jefferson Davis in Southwest Louisiana.
