| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE Colonel Michael D. Edmonson, Superintendent News Release – September 22, 2010 State Police Troop D to Participate in National Seat Check Saturday This Saturday, September 25, 2010, the Louisiana Passenger Safety Task Force and Louisiana State Police Troop D will conduct child passenger safety seat checks in Sulphur. These checks will be conducted by certified child passenger safety technicians who will provide advice and hands-on child safety seat inspections for free. The event will take place at the Lowe’s located at 305 South Cities Service Highway in Sulphur (LA 108 just north of Interstate 10) from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. as part of Lowe’s Safety Saturday event. It is estimated that approximately 3 out of 4 child restraint systems are being misused. National Child Seat Check Saturday is an opportunity for caregivers to have child restraints in their vehicle checked free of charge. Child safety seats and booster seats save lives. They offer the best protection for children in the event of a crash. During the past 30 years, approximately 8,959 lives have been saved by the use of child restraints according to the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). It is important that caregivers ensure children are properly restrained in an appropriate child safety seat, booster seat, or seat belt—every trip, every time. ...........................
