Edmonson, Superintendent News Release – Troop D April 15, 2010 Impaired Driving Crash on I-10 in Calcasieu Parish SULPHUR – Today, Louisiana State Police Troop D investigated a crash that occurred on I-10 east of Sulphur in Calcasieu Parish that sent two people to the hospital. This morning, at 10:16 a.m., a 2006 Kia traveling west on I-10 near milepost 25 driven by 55-year-old John Villory of Lake Charles struck the rear of a 1996 Mazda traveling in the same direction. After impact, Villory’s vehicle traveled into the median and overturned causing a passenger to be ejected. The vehicle that was struck was disabled on the interstate as a result of the crash. Both the passenger in the first vehicle and the driver of the second vehicle were transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries. State troopers on the scene determined that Villory was impaired. He was arrested for driving while intoxicated, careless operation, and two counts of vehicular negligent injury.
