Edmonson, Superintendent News Release – Troop D April 5, 2010 Tennessee Man Dies from Injuries Sustained in Crash on I-10 VINTON - On April 1, 2010, at 8:28 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop D investigated a one vehicle critical injury crash on I-10 west bound near mile post 9.6 east of Vinton in Calcasieu Parish. The crash occurred when a 2000 Freightliner driven by 67 year old Leon Shackelford of Cumberland Gap, Tennessee, left the roadway for unknown reasons, traveled through a ditch, then struck a tree. Shackelford was transported to West Cal-Cam Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries at 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 3, 2010. A passenger in the vehicle, 29 year old Alicia Goss of Cumberland Gap, Tennessee, sustained moderate injuries in the crash. Goss was not wearing a seatbelt. The crash remains under investigation. This is the seventh fatality crash investigated by Louisiana State Police Troop D this year. Contact Information: Sgt.
