NEWS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: S/T Stephen LaFargue Louisiana State Police Public Affairs – Troop D (337) 491-2932- Office March 2, 2008 - Vehicular Homicide (Jefferson Davis Parish) On March 2, 2008, at 12:31 a.m., State Police Troop D investigated a fatality crash involving two vehicles. The crash was located on LA 14 at mile post 26, just east of Hayes, LA. in Jefferson Davis Parish. The crash occurred when a 2006 Mitsubishi Galant, driven by 24 year old Christopher L. Myers, of Lake Arthur, was traveling east on LA 14. A 1995 Chevrolet Lumina, driven by 55 year old Brenda H. Arceneaux , of Hayes, LA. was traveling west on LA 14, when the Mitsubishi Galant crossed the center line and struck the Chevrolet Lumina head on. The passenger in the Chevrolet Lumina, Maria Hoffpauir 79, of Hayes, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Chevrolet Lumina, Brenda H. Arceneaux was transported to St. Patrick’s Hospital in Lake Charles with serious injuries. Christopher L. Myers was arrested by State Police Troop D, and charged with Vehicular Homicide, Driving While Intoxicated, Driving Left of Center and Possession of Marijuana. Christopher L. Myers blood alcohol level was .110g%. The passenger in the Chevrolet Lumina, Maria Hoffpaui, was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. This is the 7th fatal crash investigated by State Police Troop D this year. Trooper Tony Efthemes investigated the crash.
