(Allen Parish) On Friday, April 25, 2008, at 5:15 p.m., Troop D investigated a fatality crash involving a motorcycle. The crash was located on LA 112 milepost 5.5, west of Oakdale, LA in Allen Parish. The crash occurred when the driver of a 1996 Honda motorcycle was traveling east on LA 112. While traveling in a curve, the driver of the motorcycle left the roadway onto the shoulder of LA 112. The driver lost control of the motorcycle and was thrown from the motorcycle. The driver of the motorcycle, 45 year old Fred E. Mahaffey of Pitkin, was pronounced deceased at the scene from injuries suffered in the crash. The driver, Fred E. Mahaffey was wearing an approved protective helmet. Impairment is unknown at this time and standard toxicology tests are pending. The crash was investigated by Trooper Scott Willis.
