Edmonson, Superintendent For Immediate Release June 24, 2008 Fatality Crash in Calcasieu Parish On June 23, 2008 at 7:54 PM, Louisiana State Police - Troop D investigated a two-vehicle, fatality crash on U.S. Hwy 171, milepost 11, north of Moss Bluff, LA, in Calcasieu Parish. The crash occurred when a 1988 Chevrolet Suburban, driven by 52 year old Cecil Alex Buller of Lake Charles, LA, was traveling south in the northbound lane of U.S. Hwy 171. A 2000 Ford Ranger, driven by 17 year old Ethan James Harbison of Longville, LA, was traveling north on U.S. Hwy 171, in the proper lane, when the Suburban struck the Ford Ranger head-on. As a result of the injuries suffered in the crash, Cecil Alex Buller was pronounced deceased at the scene. A passenger in the Suburban, 23 year old Racheal Buller of Lake Charles, was transported to Lake Charles Memorial Hospital with moderate injuries. Ethan James Harbison was transported to St. Patrick’s Hospital with moderate injuries. It is unknown at this time if impairment was a factor; however, routine toxicology tests are pending. Mr. Cecil Alex Buller was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash. Troop D has investigated sixteen (16) crashes which have resulted in eighteen (18) deaths this year.
