LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE Colonel Michael D. Edmonson, Superintendent News Release July 5, 2008 Fatality Crash in Calcasieu Parish On July 4, 2008 at 5:20 PM, Louisiana State Police – Troop D investigated a two-vehicle, fatality crash on LA 27, milepost 87, (north of Sulphur) in Calcasieu Parish. The crash occurred when a 1994 Lincoln Town car, driven by 36 year old Ray L. Billeaud of Sulphur, LA, was traveling south on LA 27. A 2002 KIA van, driven by 31 year old Jenny Allen of Sulphur, LA, was traveling north of LA 27, when the Lincoln Town car crossed the centerline and struck the KIA van head-on. As a result of the injuries suffered in the crash, Ray L. Billeaud was pronounced deceased at West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital. Jenny Allen and Four passengers in the KIA van were transported to West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital with moderate injuries. It is unknown at this time if impairment was a factor; however, routine toxicology tests are pending. Mr. Billeaud was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash. This year, Troop D has investigated eighteen (18) crashes that have resulted in twenty (20) deaths.
