NARRATIVE:
On January 31, 2008, a casino patron was gaming at Coushatta Casino Resort at slot a slot machine. The patron placed her wallet in the coin tray of one of the machines. The wallet contained credit cards, driver’s license and numerous other identifiers. The patron momentarily stepped away from the machine and her wallet. A black male, later identified as Randy Fontenot, picked up the wallet and departed the area. Fontenot was observed removing money from the wallet. Fontenot put the wallet in the coin tray of another machine and met up with another patron, later identified as Lorenza Greene, and the two departed the casino. The victim stated after she noticed her wallet missing, she spoke to a black female who stated her husband picked the wallet up and took it to the security podium. After the victim received her wallet from the Coushatta Casino Resort Security Department, it was missing $375.00.

Surveillance coverage showed the victim speaking to Greene. S/T J. D. Parker contacted Chief Richard Young of the Oberlin Police Department who knew of Lorenza Greene and identified her husband as Randy Fontenot. S/T Parker compared driver’s license photos of both Greene and Fontenot to the surveillance coverage and was able to positively identify them.

On February 5, 2008, S/T Parker discovered that Fontenot was at work in Crowley, La. TFC Paul Benoit contacted Crowley Police Department and they executed the arrest warrant on Fontenot. On February 6, 2008, TFC Paul Benoit transported Fontenot to the Louisiana State Police Field Office at Coushatta Casino Resort. Fontenot admitted to taking the wallet, but he stated he only took $47.00 from the wallet. Fontenot was transported to Allen Parish Sheriff’s Office where he was booked without incident for Felony Theft, Unauthorized use of a Movable and an active Bench Warrant from Calcasieu Parish
