| NEWS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: S/T Sal Messina Louisiana State Police Public Affairs – Troop D (337) 491-2932- Office (337) 219-2466- Pager February 6, 2008 - Starks Woman Crashes Into Trooper Vehicle (Lake Charles, LA) - On Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at 10:15 p.m., the Louisiana State Police were investigating a six vehicle crash on the Interstate 210 bridge in the inside (left) lane. Senior Trooper Stephen Cyprien was assisting another Trooper with traffic control protecting the lane with his fully marked 2008 Ford Crown Victoria police unit. He was sitting in the vehicle and had his emergency lights activated along with right direction lights directing traffic to merge into the outside (right) lane. After being there for approximately one hour, his vehicle was struck in the rear by a 2006 Honda Civic, driven by 20 year old Jessica Savoy of Starks. Both received minor injuries as a result of the crash and Savoy was transported to West Calcasieu-Cameron Hospital. Savoy showed signs of impairment at the hospital and complied to a toxicology test. She was charged with D.W.I. and careless operation. Sgt Kevin Manuel was the supervisor investigating the crash and making the arrest. He was assisted by S/T Joseph Adaway and Tpr Jason Simmons. “Alcohol or Drugs, Impairment is Impairment! Drive Impaired Get Arrested"
