Edmonson, Superintendent TROOP D- NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release Date: December 9, 2008 Head-On Crash in Jefferson Davis Parish Leaves One Dead Jefferson Davis Parish- On Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at approximately 7:40 PM, Troop D was notified of a fatality crash on US 90 near milepost 52 that claimed the life of Crowley man. Vanessa Benoit (W/F, 50, of Jennings, LA) was driving a 1997 Jeep Cherokee westbound on US 90 when, for unknown reasons, it crossed the centerline and struck an eastbound 1990 Chevrolet truck driven by Samuel Jordan Jr. (B/M, 56, of Crowley, LA). Jordan sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Jefferson Davis Parish Coroner’s Office. Benoit sustained moderate injuries in the crash and was transported to St. Patrick’s Hospital by Acadian Ambulance. There was a passenger riding with Benoit named Terry Moore (53 yr old) that sustained minor injuries. All occupants were wearing their seat belts. Alcohol/ drug use is not suspected. Trooper Derek Cormier is continuing his investigation.
