One person was killed in a Wednesday afternoon crash when the vehicle he was driving ran off highway 389 north of DeQuincy and struck a tree.

Killed was Lawrence Breaux III, 48, from Hayes. Breaux was wearing a seatbelt when the vehicle he was driving ran off the roadway and struck a tree. Breaux was transported to the Beauregard Memorial hospital and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

According to investigators from Troop D, on September 16 at around 2:28 PM, the 1997 Dodge pick-up truck, driven by Lawrence Breaux III ,48, from Hayes was traveling south on highway 389 in Beauregard Parish. While traveling south on highway 389, Breaux ran off the roadway and struck a small tree.

Toxicology tests are pending at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab. The crash remains under investigation.
