LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE Colonel Michael D. Edmonson, Superintendent News Release – January 30, 2009 Office of Motor Vehicle Supervisor Arrested On January 29, 2009, the Louisiana State Police Detective Section concluded an investigation concerning an Office of Motor Vehicle supervisor in the DeRidder field office. Investigators from the Louisiana State Police received a complaint from the DeRidder District manager of the Office of Motor Vehicles. This complaint alleged a supervisor was issuing drivers’ licenses without administering the road test or the written test. Investigators interviewed Supervisor Peggy B. Cole, 54 of Reeves, La. in reference to the complaint. During the interview, Cole confessed to processing at least twenty drivers’ licenses to individuals for $200.00 per license over a two year period. “The Office of Motor Vehicles has strict requirements for persons applying for driver licenses. Employees who violate laws on proof of identity will be held accountable for violating the public’s trust” said Commissioner Kay Hodges. OMV is working with State Police to establish a drivers’ license fraud unit consisting of Office of Motor Vehicles employees and law enforcement to protect the integrity of the department”. Peggy B. Cole, 54, of Reeves, La. was arrested by the Louisiana State Police without incident and booked into the Beauregard Parish Prison on the following charges: Computer Fraud Malfeasance in Office Public Bribery Filing or Maintaining False Public Records Sgt.
