| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE Colonel Michael D. Edmonson, Superintendent News Release – Troop D December 16, 2010 Fatal Crash in Allen Parish KINDER - This afternoon at 4:15 p.m., troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop D responded to a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 165 (milepost 22) at its intersection with Green Oak Cemetery Road north of Kinder that claimed the life of a Kinder woman. Preliminary investigation revealed that a 1999 Saturn driven by 73-year-old Greta Sliman was traveling east on Green Oak Cemetery Road at its intersection with U.S. Highway 165 when Sliman failed to yield the right of way at a stop sign to a 2006 Toyota Camry driven by a 16-year-old, also from Kinder, that was traveling south on U.S. Highway 165. The Toyota struck Sliman’s Saturn in the driver’s side front door. Sliman received serious injuries as a result of the crash and was transported by helicopter to a Lake Charles hospital where she later died. The 16-year-old was transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries. Both drivers were wearing seat belts. Impairment is not suspected to be a factor in the crash. Routine toxicology samples were obtained and submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. The crash remains under investigation. Troop D troopers have investigated 22 fatal crashes for the year of 2010, resulting in 26 fatalities. Contact Information: | |||
