| News Release – Troop D September 13, 2011 Crash in Jeff Davis Parish injures two people Elton -On September 13, 2011, at approximately 3:43 p.m., troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop D responded to a single-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 395 about 2 miles south of Elton in Jefferson Davis Parish that sent two people to the hospital, one in critical condition. Investigating troopers report that a 1998 Chevrolet pick-up driven by 18-year-old Michael James Davis of Elton was traveling on LA 395 when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle Davis was driving ran off the road. The vehicle struck a driveway, ran into a ditch, and then struck a culvert, causing the vehicle to flip. Davis and a passenger in his vehicle, 32-year-old Arthur Barry Reeves of Basile were ejected from the vehicle. Reeves (passenger) was critically injured in the crash and transported by air ambulance to an area hospital. Davis (driver) suffered moderate injuries and was also transported to an area hospital. Neither was wearing a seatbelt. A toxicology sample was obtained from Davis and will be submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. The crash remains under investigation and charges are pending. Wearing a seatbelt is the most effective way to minimize the likelihood of injury or death when involved in a crash.
