News Release – Troop D October 24, 2011 Lake Arthur man dies in Jefferson Davis Parish crash Welsh–On Monday, October 24, 2011, at approximately 5:47 p.m., troopers assigned to Louisiana State Police Troop D responded to single-vehicle crash on Interstate 10 eastbound near Welsh in Jefferson Davis Parish. Preliminary investigation revealed that 77-year-old Emery Quebodeaux of Lake Arthur experienced a catastrophic medical event while traveling east on I-10 near milepost 53. The 2011 GMC pickup he was driving then traveled across the grass median, the westbound travel lanes, the north ditch, and the north service road. The vehicle then continued north and east approximately 100 yards into an open field and came to rest in a shallow ditch. It is believed Quebodeaux died as a result of the medical event and not the crash. Quebodeaux was using his seatbelt and drug or alcohol impairment is not suspected. A routine toxicology sample was obtained and the investigation is continuing. Contact Information: Sgt.
