Edmonson, Superintendent News Release – Troop D February 1, 2011 Traffic Stop on I-10 Leads to Discovery of Nearly 20 Pounds of Marijuana LAKE CHARLES – On February 1, 2011, troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop D stopped a 2011 Hyundai for a traffic violation on Interstate 10 eastbound (MP 32) in Lake Charles. Troopers made contact with the driver, 46-year-old Michael Stuart of St. Louis, MO and passenger, 44-year-old Michael Broom of Deland, FL. Consent to search the vehicle was obtained and approximately 19.7 pounds of marijuana was discovered inside the vehicle. The marijuana has an approximate street value of over $19,000. After detectives with the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations interviewed the subjects, they were both charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana and booked into the Calcasieu Parish Correctional Center. | |||
