Internet Investigation Leads to the Arrest of a Mississippi Man

Last month, detectives with the Lake Charles field office of the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations conducted a child pornography investigation as part of Operation Child Watch that led them to a Mississippi man. The investigation revealed that 44-year-old Gary Reed of Greenville, Mississippi, was downloading child pornography onto his home computer.

Yesterday, based on information provided by State Police detectives, investigators with the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office executed a search warrant at Reed’s residence. Child pornography was located on Reed’s computer. Reed was arrested and charged by Mississippi authorities with possession of child pornography.

The mission of Operation Child Watch is to rescue children from the potential abuse of child predators by targeting those individuals with sexually explicit images and/or videos on their computers. This is an ongoing effort, in cooperation with law enforcement agencies throughout Louisiana as well as those in other states.
