| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE Colonel Michael D. Edmonson, Superintendent News Release – Troop D December 24, 2010 Rollover Crash near Jennings Kills Unrestrained Driver JENNINGS – Last night, at 8:02 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop D responded to a one vehicle rollover crash on the Interstate10 North Frontage Road just east of Louisiana Highway 102 (North Cutting Avenue) near Jennings in Jefferson Davis Parish that claimed the life of a Crowley man. Preliminary investigation revealed that 58-year-old Richard J. Bourgeois of Crowley was traveling north on the frontage road and, upon reaching LA 102, failed to negotiate a curve to the left. The 2007 Isuzu pick-up Bourgeois was driving exited the roadway to the right, struck a ditch, and rolled over. Bourgeois, who was not wearing a seat belt, sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash. A routine toxicology sample was obtained from Bourgeois and will be submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. The crash remains under investigation. Last year in Louisiana, sixty-five percent of vehicle occupants that were killed in a crash were not properly restrained. Buckle Up Louisiana. Every trip. Every time. Troop D troopers have investigated 27 fatal crashes in 2010, resulting in 31 fatalities. Contact Information: | |||
