Edmonson, Superintendent News Release – Troop D December 22, 2010 **UPDATE - 9:00 P.M.** Bourque’s condition has been upgraded and her injuries are now considered to be moderate. Calcasieu Parish Crash Seriously Injures Pedestrian LAKE CHARLES – This afternoon, at 4:05 p.m., troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop D responded to a crash between a vehicle and a pedestrian on U.S. Highway 90 near its intersection with House Street east of Lake Charles that sent the pedestrian to a local hospital with serious injuries. Preliminary reports indicate a female pedestrian, 22-year old Kourtnee J. Bourque of Ragley, was walking east on U.S. 90 on the south shoulder of the highway. According to witnesses, a vehicle traveling west stopped on the north shoulder of U.S. 90 and called Bourque over. Bourque failed to observe a vehicle that was traveling east on U.S. 90 and abruptly walked into the path of the vehicle and was struck in the eastbound lane. Bourque sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital. The driver of the vehicle was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. Witnesses stated the vehicle that had stopped on the north shoulder left the scene immediately after the crash. Routine toxicology samples were obtained from the driver and pedestrian and will be submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.
