Edmonson, Superintendent News Release – Troop D December 22, 2010 Crash in Beauregard Parish Kills Pedestrian DERIDDER – Last night, at 7:18 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop D responded to a one vehicle crash involving a pedestrian on Louisiana Highway 112 four miles east of U.S. Highway 171 that claimed the life of a DeRidder man. Preliminary investigation revealed 29-year-old Joshua D. McKay of DeRidder was traveling east on LA 112 when, for unknown reasons, 33-year-old Christopher J. Harvey of DeRidder stepped off of the concrete curb of a small bridge into the path of McKay’s 1999 Toyota Camry. Harvey was struck by the right front of the Toyota and sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash. McKay was not hurt. Routine toxicology samples were obtained from the driver and pedestrian and will be submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. The crash remains under investigation. Troop D troopers have investigated 25 fatal crashes for the year of 2010, resulting in 29 fatalities. Contact Information: Sgt.
