| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE Colonel Michael D. Edmonson, Superintendent News Release – Troop D June 10, 2011 Motorcycle Crash Kills DeQuincy Man DEQUINCY—Last night, at approximately 9:47 p.m., troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop D responded to a two-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 27 south of DeQuincy in Calcasieu Parish that claimed the life of a DeQuincy man. Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2001 Honda motorcycle driven by 26-year-old John Fruge of DeQuincy was traveling south on Highway 27 when he attempted to pass an 18-wheeler that was also traveling south. Fruge failed to observe a northbound 2003 Ford pickup approaching in the north lane of the two-lane highway. Both drivers then veered toward the east shoulder but did not avoid the crash. Inattentive and distracted driving is the cause of many crashes in Louisiana. Information on distracted driving may be found online at www.distraction.gov. Contact Information: | |||
