Edmonson, Superintendent News Release–Troop D June 17, 2011 Traffic Stop Leads to Discovery of Marijuana on I-10 WELSH--This morning, at 8:35 a.m., troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop D stopped a 2005 Dodge Durango for a traffic violation on Interstate 10 eastbound near Welsh in Jefferson Davis Parish. Troopers requested and received permission to search the vehicle from the driver, 44-year-old Patricia Lopez Decruz of Pharr, Texas. Over 24 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of approximately $24,000 was located in the vehicle. Decruz was arrested for following too closely, no driver’s license, and possession with intent to distribute marijuana. She was booked into the Jefferson Davis Parish Jail. No one else was in the vehicle. Detectives with the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations have determined that the marijuana was intended for delivery to a recipient in Alexandria, Louisiana.
