Edmonson, Superintendent News Release – Region 2 April 28, 2011 State Police Arrest Lake Charles Couple for Insurance Fraud On April 27, 2011, troopers with the Lake Charles field office of the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations arrested a Lake Charles couple for insurance fraud. An investigation revealed 40-year-old Tracy Ryan and 48-year-old Sheila Ryan reported a fictitious crash to their insurance company. Both were arrested at their residence and charged with insurance fraud. Sheila Ryan was also charged with filing a false public record. They were booked into the Calcasieu Parish Correctional Center. Insurance fraud is a crime that costs Louisiana citizens over 2.3 billion dollars a year through higher taxes, increased insurance premiums, and higher costs for goods and services.
