DeQuincy Man Arrested for Drug Charges

Earlier this year, troopers with the Lake Charles field office of the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations and officers with the DeQuincy Police Department initiated a joint investigation into illegal attempts by 30-year-old David Eddleman of DeQuincy to purchase more ephedrine/psudoephedrine (sold over-the-counter as cold medication) than is allowed by law. The investigation revealed that Eddleman attempted to obtain more ephedrine/psudoephedrine than allowed by state and Federal law on at least 7 different occasions.

Eddleman was charged with 7 counts of attempting to illegally receive a controlled dangerous substance. He was booked into the Calcasieu Parish Correctional Center on a $100,000 bond. The investigation is ongoing and additional arrests are pending.

It is illegal to purchase a dangerous controlled substance on behalf of another person for any illegal purpose. Anyone caught doing so may be charged criminally. The Louisiana State Police and other area law enforcement agencies will continue to conduct these types of investigations in an effort to prevent the illegal manufacture of methamphetamine.
