Pursuit of Stolen Vehicle Leads to Arrest of Ville Platte Man

Calcasieu Parish – A Ville Platte man was arrested this morning in Lake Charles after leading multiple police agencies on a pursuit in a stolen vehicle.

On April 5, 2019, at 7:47 a.m., Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop D received information from Troop D Dispatch about a stolen 2015 Ford Edge traveling east on I-10 west of Sulphur. Troopers in the area located the Ford Edge and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The driver, later identified as 19-year-old Dakollian Qwamain Deville of Ville Platte, refused to stop and led Troopers on a pursuit that traveled east on I-10 and into Lake Charles. Deville exited I-10 and traveled on several city streets as he attempted to elude Troopers. Deville traveled onto Shattuck Street then fled from the vehicle. After a search of the immediate area, Deville was located and apprehended.

Deville was arrested and charged with Illegal possession of stolen things, possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, possession of Schedule I narcotics (marijuana), possession of Schedule II narcotics (methamphetamine), aggravated flight from an officer, resisting an officer, following too close, improper lane use, and driving on the shoulder. Deville was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center.

No injuries were reported and no vehicles were damaged. The pursuit lasted about 10 minutes.

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office and Lake Charles Police Department assisted with the pursuit.
