TROOP D NEWS RELEASE January 14, 2019 Pursuit on I-10 Leads to Arrest of Two Crowley Men Lake Charles – Two men were arrested on drug and other charges Sunday evening after leading State Police on a pursuit on Interstate 10 that traveled into Westlake and Lake Charles. On January 13, 2019, shortly after 7:00 p.m., a Trooper assigned to Louisiana State Police Troop D attempted to stop a 2012 Chrysler 200 for a traffic violation on Interstate 10 west of Sulphur. The driver, later identified as 39-year-old Travis F. Reed of Crowley, briefly stopped then fled the scene. Reed led Troopers through the city of Westlake where he sideswiped a vehicle before getting back on I-10. Trooper successfully deployed spike strips on Interstate 210 ending the pursuit. The pursuit lasted about 15 minutes. Reed and the passenger, identified as 30-year-old Lionel S. Clement of Crowley, were placed under arrest and transported to the Calcasieu Correctional Center. Reed was charged with following too close, flight from an officer, manufacture/distribution of Schedule 1 narcotics (synthetic marijuana), attempt and conspiracy to distribute Schedule 1 narcotics, possession of promethazine, and money laundering. Clement was charged with manufacture/distribution of Schedule 1 narcotics (synthetic marijuana), attempt and conspiracy to distribute Schedule 1 narcotics, possession of promethazine, and money laundering, No injuries were reported and no vehicles were damaged.
