| TROOP D NEWS RELEASE July 24, 2018 Head-on Crash in Beauregard Parish Kills Alexandria Woman BEAUREGARD PARISH — An Alexandria woman died this morning after the vehicle she was driving traveled into the path of an 18-wheeler. On July 24, 2018, shortly after 11:00 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop D responded to a two-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 1146 (Ikes Road) about 3/10 of a mile north of Louisiana Highway 112 in Beauregard Parish. The preliminary investigation revealed a 2017 Nissan Rogue driven by 66-year-old Brenda Bordelon of Alexandria was traveling north on LA 1146 when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed the centerline and collided with a southbound 18-wheeler. Despite wearing a seat belt, Bordelon was pronounced dead at the scene due to the severity of the crash. The driver of the 18-wheeler, 39-year-old Jeffery McWilliams of Leesville, received minor injuries. He was wearing a seat belt. A toxicology sample was obtained from the drivers and will be submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation. In 2018, Troop D has investigated 15 fatal crashes resulting in 15 deaths.
