TROOP D NEWS RELEASE November 22, 2018 Theft Leads to Drug Arrest at Local Casino LAKE CHARLES - On Wednesday, November 21, 2018, Troopers assigned to the Louisiana State Police Gaming Enforcement Division responded to a reported theft at a Lake Charles area casino. Troopers confronted 33-year-old Rayna Ferguson of Lake Charles who had the item she stole from a casino retail store in plain view in her purse. Troopers also determined she had an active warrant for a previous theft. Ferguson was staying at the casino hotel and was escorted back to her room to retrieve her belongings. Once inside the room, Troopers observed several baggies of suspected marijuana fall to the floor as Ferguson packed. A subsequent search of the room revealed suspected marijuana, methamphetamine, pipes suspected of use for methamphetamine consumption, syringes, scales, and other drug paraphernalia. Ferguson was placed under arrest for theft, simple possession of marijuana, possession of Schedule II narcotics (methamphetamine), and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was booked into the Calcasieu Parish Correctional Center. | |||
