| TROOP D NEWS RELEASE September 24, 2018 Texas Driver Succumbs to Injuries Sustained in Crash CALCASIEU PARISH – A Texas woman involved in a single vehicle crash has succumbed to her injuries. On September 20, 2018, at 1:58 pm, Louisiana State Police Troop D responded to a single vehicle crash that occurred on Interstate 10 Westbound near milepost 26.9 in Calcasieu Parish, west of Westlake. The preliminary investigation revealed a 2011 Ford pickup truck driven by 68-year-old Brenda L. Manuel of Vidor Texas was traveling west on Interstate 10 prior to the crash. For unknown reasons the vehicle ran off the left side of the roadway into the center median and overturned. Manuel was properly restrained and was transported to Lake Charles Memorial Hospital for further medical attention. On September 24, 2018, Manuel succumbed to injuries sustained during the crash. Troop D has investigated 19 fatal crashes resulting in 19 deaths in 2018. | |||
