TROOP D NEWS RELEASE UPDATE Troopers Arrest Texas Capital Murder Suspect in Lake Charles LAKE CHARLES – Troopers have arrested a man in Lake Charles wanted by Texas authorities for capital murder. On August 21, 2018, investigators assigned to the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations were informed by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office that a murder suspect out of Harris County, Texas, was possibly living in Calcasieu Parish. Through investigation detectives determined the suspect, 49-year-old Darrell Burnside, was living in Lake Charles. On the afternoon of August 22, 2018, Troopers arrested Burnside on active warrants from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office for capital murder. He was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center. On August 23, 2018, investigators from the Louisiana State Police and Harris County Sheriff’s Office executed search warrants on Burnside’s vehicle and residences in Calcasieu Parish looking for evidence.
