An arrest warrant was issued and Troopers placed Castille under arrest. Baton Rouge, LA – Shortly before 10:00 pm on July 7, 2015, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a single vehicle fatality crash that occurred on LA 410 north of LA 408. The crash took the life of 35 year old Tasha Gross of Baton Rouge, LA. The initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as Gross and 42 year old Marcus Castille of Baton Rouge were traveling southbound on LA 410 in a 2005 Chevrolet Avalanche. It is unknown at this time if the vehicle was being driven by Gross or Castille. For unknown reasons, the vehicle began to overturn on the roadway. The vehicle continued to overturn as it left the roadway and came to rest on its roof in a private driveway. Both Gross and Castille were unrestrained at the time of the crash. Gross was completely ejected from the vehicle and received fatal injuries as a result of the crash. She was pronounced deceased at the scene by the East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner’s Office. Castille was partially ejected from the vehicle and was transported to Our Lady of the Lake Hospital with serious injuries. It is unknown at this time if impairment was a factor in the crash. A toxicology sample was taken from Gross and will be submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. Due to the severity of Castille’s injuries, a toxicology sample was unable to be taken. This crash remains under investigation. Louisiana State Troopers want to inform motorists that all occupants of a motor vehicle must be restrained, regardless of seating position. While not all crashes are survivable, statistics show that the chances of surviving a crash rise significantly when properly restrained. Making good choices while in motor vehicles such as never driving while impaired, always ensuring every occupant is properly restrained, and avoiding all distractions can often mean the difference between life and death.
