TROOP A NEWS RELEASE May 5, 2015 Troopers Seek Hit and Run Vehicle which Struck Three Cyclists Baton Rouge – Shortly before 10:00 pm on May 4, 2015, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a hit and run crash that occurred on LA Hwy 30 (Nicholson Dr.) near Innovation Park Dr. (north of Gardere Ln.) in East Baton Rouge Parish. The crash resulted in injuries to three cyclists, one of whom sustained serious injuries. The initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as the three cyclists were riding single file southbound on LA Hwy 30. As they were traveling south, an unknown southbound vehicle struck the cyclists from the rear. Following the crash the unknown driver of the vehicle turned east on Innovation Park Dr. and fled the scene. Based off of witness statements Troopers believe that the unknown vehicle may be a red 4-door Nissan Frontier. The Nissan may have damage to the front end and possibly the passenger side. Witnesses also believe that the driver of the vehicle was a white male, approximately 6 feet tall with short dark hair, a goatee, and wearing brown shorts. Two of the cyclists were transported from the scene by EMS to Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge.
