TROOP D NEWS RELEASE Motorcyclist Killed in Jefferson Davis Parish Crash Roanoke, LA – On Friday, March 20, 2020, shortly after 9:30 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop D responded to a crash on US Highway 90 near West 8th Street in Jefferson Davis Parish. The crash claimed the life of 55-year-old Darren Lee Kebodeaux of Jennings, LA. The preliminary investigation revealed a 2009 Yamaha motorcycle operated by Kebodeaux was traveling west on US 90 and struck a deer. The impact caused Kebodeaux and his passenger, 39-year-old Mary Catherine Mayo of Erath, LA., to be ejected from the motorcycle. At some point after the initial crash, both riders were struck by a car. Kebodeaux was and Mayo were transported from the scene with serious injuries. Kebodeaux was pronounced deceased at a local hospital. Both were wearing DOT approved helmets at the time of the initial crash. The driver of the car was wearing a seat belt and was not injured. Toxicology samples were obtained from both drivers and will be submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation. Troop D has investigated 6 fatal crashes resulting in 6 deaths in 2020.
