TROOP D NEWS RELEASE Roanoke Resident Struck and Killed in Jefferson Davis Parish Last Night Roanoke — A woman is dead after she was struck and killed while walking on a frontage road near the community of Roanoke last night. On July 16, 2020, shortly after at 10:30 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop D responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle on the I-10 South Frontage Road near Farm Supply Road. The initial investigation revealed 32-year-old Kendra Sasha Johnson of Roanoke was walking in the eastbound lane of travel on the frontage road when she was struck by a car. Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the car was wearing a seat belt and was not injured. Routine toxicology samples were obtained for analysis. The crash remains under investigation. At the time of the crash, Johnson was wearing dark-colored clothing. A majority of pedestrian fatalities, nearly 70 percent, occur at night. Pedestrians are encouraged to walk facing traffic, use a sidewalk or highway shoulder when available, wear light colored clothing with reflective materials, and to carry a flashlight at night.
