TROOP D NEWS RELEASE December 7, 2015 Pedestrian Struck and Killed on U.S. 165 North of Fenton FENTON, LA – A Jefferson Davis Parish resident died last night after he was struck and killed by a vehicle while standing on U.S. Highway 165. On December 6, 2015, shortly before 7:00 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop D responded to a crash involving a vehicle that struck a pedestrian on U.S. Highway 165 about 2 miles north of Fenton in Jefferson Davis Parish. The preliminary investigation revealed a vehicle was traveling north in the right lane of travel when the juvenile driver observed another vehicle on the shoulder of the highway with its hazard lights on. The driver switched lanes from the right lane to the left lane and struck 56-year-old Kevin L. Adams who was standing in the left lane of travel. Adams was standing on the highway near his home at the time of the crash. Adams was pronounced dead at the scene by the Jefferson Davis Parish Coroner’s Office. The driver of the vehicle was not injured. Due to the age of the juvenile driver, the driver’s name is not being released. The driver was not charged. Toxicology samples were obtained and will be submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. The crash remains under investigation. Troop D has investigated 28 fatal crashes resulting in 30 deaths this year. | |||
