TROOP D NEWS RELEASE September 7, 2015 Unrestrained Driver Ejected and Killed in Allen Parish Crash KINDER, LA – A Kinder man died this morning after losing control of his vehicle. On September 7, 2015, shortly after 5:00 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop D responded to a single-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 383 just west of Kinder in Allen Parish. The preliminary investigation revealed a 1998 Chevrolet pickup truck was traveling east on LA 383 when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle traveled off of the roadway. The driver, 71-year-old Dennis C. Cloud of Kinder, overcorrected causing the vehicle to rotate then flip several times. Cloud was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle as it flipped. Cloud suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Allen Parish Coroner’s Office. A toxicology sample was obtained from Cloud and will be submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation. Louisiana law requires vehicle occupants to be properly restrained in all seating positions, day and night. Wearing a seat belt is the single most effective thing people can do to minimize the risk of injury in the event of a crash. Motorists are encouraged to make the smart choice and always wear their seat belt. Troop D has investigated 19 fatal crashes resulting in 20 fatalities this year. | |||
