TROOP D NEWS RELEASE October 6, 2015 State Police Arrest Lake Charles Man for Using Counterfeit Money at Casino LAKE CHARLES, LA – A Lake Charles man was arrested yesterday after he was caught using counterfeit money at a Lake Charles area casino. On October 5, 2015, the Louisiana State Police Gaming Enforcement Division was contacted by a Lake Charles area casino after 28-year-old Jarred Blakey of Lake Charles attempted to buy into a poker game using a counterfeit $100 bill. Troopers discovered additional counterfeit money on Blakey’s person as well as marijuana in one of Blakey’s pockets and in his hotel room. Further investigation revealed Blakey also used counterfeit money on October 4th. Troopers placed Blakey under arrest for ten counts of monetary instrument abuse and one count of possession of marijuana. Blakey was booked into the Calcasieu Parish Correctional Center. Bond was set at $105,000. Under Louisiana law, monetary instrument abuse is punishable by a fine of up to $1,000,000 and/or up to 10 years in prison. In addition, the offender is required to make full restitution.
