Troopers Arrest Casino Jackpot Thief

VINTON, LA – Two people were arrested yesterday after one of them claimed a slot machine jackpot that did not belong to her.

On April 5, 2016, Troopers assigned to the Louisiana State Police Gaming Enforcement Division were contacted by surveillance agents from Delta Downs Racetrack Casino and Hotel in reference to the theft of a jackpot. The investigation revealed 42-year-old Kasey Labry of Vinton claimed a nearly $800 jackpot that she did not win and was not entitled to. After being paid Labry immediately departed the casino with her boyfriend, 27-year-old Alvin Smith III of Vinton.

Troopers located Labry and Smith at a barn behind the horse track. Labry was arrested for theft while Smith was arrested for an outstanding warrant for theft of a horse trailer.

Labry and Smith were booked into the Calcasieu Parish Correctional Center. Bond for Labry was set at $10,000 while bond for Smith was set at $25,000.

The Louisiana State Police Gaming Enforcement Division, in conjunction with the Louisiana Gaming Control Board, will continue to work to ensure the integrity of gaming activities at Louisiana casinos.
