TROOP D NEWS RELEASE May 11, 2016 Teenager from Dry Creek Dies in Allen Parish Crash MITTIE, LA – A teenager from Dry Creek died this afternoon after the vehicle she was driving crossed the centerline and struck an 18-wheeler. On May 11, 2016, shortly before 4:30 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop D responded to a two-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 26 west of Oberlin near the community of Mittie in Allen Parish. The preliminary investigation revealed a 1999 Oldsmobile driven by 19-year-old Rachel McCrary of Dry Creek was traveling west on LA 26 when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed the centerline of the highway. The Oldsmobile then struck the trailer of an eastbound 18-wheeler driven by 58-year-old Patrick Courville of Eunice. McCrary died as a result of her injuries. Courville was not injured. Both were wearing a seat belt. Routine toxicology samples were obtained from the drivers and will be submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation. Troop D has investigated 15 fatal crashes resulting in 19 deaths this year including two teenagers who died in separate crashes in Allen Parish. | |||
