TROOP D NEWS RELEASE February 18, 2016 Troopers Arrest Lake Charles Casino Employee for Theft LAKE CHARLES, LA – A Lake Charles casino employee was arrested today after she was caught defrauding a Lake Charles area casino. In October of 2015, the Louisiana State Police Gaming Enforcement Division was notified by Golden Nugget Casino in Lake Charles of a possible employee theft. The investigation revealed 48-year-old Pattie Somphou of Lake Charles illegally manipulated the Golden Nugget computer system to give patrons extra comp points. The aggregate amount of the theft was over $2,000. An arrest warrant for was obtained for Somphou but before the arrest warrant could be served, Somphou fled the state. On February 18, 2016, Somphou returned to Lake Charles and turned herself into Troopers assigned to the Louisiana State Police Gaming Division. Ms. Somphou was arrested for computer fraud as well as theft and was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center. Bond was set at $3,000. If convicted of both charges, Somphou faces up to 10 years in prison, or up to a $13,000 fine, or both.
