TROOP D NEWS RELEASE August 16, 2015 Motorcyclist Dies in Jefferson Davis Parish Crash IOWA, LA – An Alexandria man died last night after he lost control of the motorcycle he was operating. On August 15, 2015, shortly after 9:00 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop D responded to a single-vehicle motorcycle crash on Interstate Highway 10 just west of U.S. Highway 165 in Jefferson Davis Parish. The preliminary investigation revealed a 2003 Harley-Davidson motorcycle operated by 62-year-old Donald Stanfield of Alexandria was traveling east on I-10 in the exit lane for U.S. 165 when, for unknown reasons, he failed to negotiate a right turn onto the exit ramp. The motorcycle traveled off of the roadway into a sign causing Stanfield to be ejected. Stanfield was pronounced dead at the scene by the Jefferson Davis Parish Coroner’s Office. Stanfield was wearing an approved helmet at the time of the crash. A toxicology sample was obtained for analysis and the crash remains under investigation. This is the third motorcyclist to die in a crash investigated by Troop D this year. All of these deaths were the result of single-vehicle crashes. | |||
