TROOP D NEWS RELEASE February 6, 2015 High Speed Pursuit Leads to Arrest of Lake Charles Man Cameron Parish – Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop D arrested a Lake Charles man wanted for aggravated assault after leading them on a pursuit in Calcasieu and Cameron parishes this morning. This morning at about 8:00 a.m., Lake Charles police attempted to stop a vehicle in Lake Charles for a traffic violation but were unsuccessful. They then contacted Louisiana State Police Troop D for assistance. Troopers pursued the 2006 Hyundai Sonata driven by 22-year-old Fabian D. Adams of Lake Charles for about 50 miles through Calcasieu and Cameron Parishes. At times speeds exceeded 130 miles per hour. Adams lost control of the vehicle on Louisiana Highway 82 in the community of Grand Chenier and ran into a ditch. He was not injured. Troopers arrested Adams for reckless operation of a motor vehicle, aggravated flight from an officer, driving under suspension, possession of marijuana, expired motor vehicle inspection, and altered dealer tag. Adams was booked into the Cameron Parish Jail. Upon release from the Cameron Parish Jail, Adams will be transferred to the Calcasieu Parish Correctional Facility where he will be rearrested on previous arrest warrants for aggravated assault, aggravated flight from an officer, and theft. He will also face additional charges from Louisiana State Police Troopers in Calcasieu Parish related to this incident.
