Marrero Woman in Jail after Troopers Find Cocaine in Vehicle

CALCASIEU PARISH – A Marrero woman was arrested early this morning after Troopers found cocaine in the vehicle she was driving on Interstate 10 west of Sulphur.

On Tuesday, March 10, 2015, shortly after 1:00 a.m., a Trooper assigned to Louisiana State Police Troop D stopped a 2010 Nissan Altima on Interstate Highway 10 near Sulphur for a traffic violation. Troopers requested permission to search the vehicle but the driver, 22-year-old Lindsay L. Billiot of Marrero, Louisiana, refused to give consent.

State Police K-9 “Hugo” was deployed and indicated the presence of narcotics in the vehicle. During a search of the vehicle, approximately 1.7 pounds (771 grams) of powdered cocaine with an estimated street value of $73,700 was located in the trunk.

Billiot was charged with improper vehicle equipment and possession of cocaine with intent to distribute. She was booked into the Calcasieu Parish Correctional Center.

If convicted, Billiot faces up to 30 years in prison and up to a $50,000 fine.
